June 2009 Fan of the Month: Bonnie Grossman

I have been a Southside Johnny Fan from day one. During our courtship period, my future wife (we are now married over 28 years) would dutifully accompany me to SSJ shows. One memorable show was the Freehold Raceway concert, in 95 degree heat, port-a-johns only and needless to say a long, sweaty
day. The music was great with Southside, Willie Nile and others (Bon Jovi before he was Bon Jovi). Once we got married she still grudgingly went with me to the Palladium shows, concerts at the Pier every summer, and other venues. At one of the last shows we went to, a fight broke out right in front of us, and my wife said that is enough and we are getting too old for this.

Now we fast forward to January 2007. I coerced my wife and three daughters to go to BB Kings which would be the first SSJ show I would have seen in 20 years. Well, needless to say after that one show I was hooked again. Meeting Bobby in the parking lot by chance, and him charming my wife and three daughters only made the night more special. I have dragged my wife (and several times my kids); to see Southside and the boys to too many shows to count in the last several years. There have been many highlights during this period that will forever be etched in my mind-Johnny singling my wife out at the Stone Pony for not singing Talk to Me, Johnny grabbing my daughter's purse on stage at BBK's and making fun of her because she was drinking water (as opposed to something else), and him lambasting my wife (the way only he can do), for not having pen to autograph a poster for a Kazeediggs show that he was at. However, NOTHING can top the fact because of her agreeing to come to all these shows, rain , heat or shine, that is us on the front of the new Hearts of Stone live CD!! I do have to admit though that is more me then her in the picture.

So for the Fan on the Month for June, I would like to nominate my wife, Bonnie Grossman She has let me recapture some of my misspent youth and now she has finally come to enjoy it as well . As for some additional karma, she also shares the same birthday with Johnny (12/4)!
